Liebster Award

I'm got really excited when the wonderful Ana from Hey Mama Australia nominated me to join in the fun with The Liebster Award! Thank you so much for the nomination and for those of you who haven't read her blog before, I would highly suggested that you do because she give some amazing parenting advice.

Onto the fun part (I had to look up the Rules for this)

1. Post 11 facts about yourself.
2. Answer 11 questions provided by the person who nominated you
3. Nominate 11 blogs with fewer than 200 followers (I've nominated a few that have more than that simply because I love those blogs)
4. Link your nominees in the post
5. Create 11 questions for your nominees
6. Let your nominees know that you've tagged them. Remember: No tag backs!

11 Facts About Me

1. I broke my knee cap when I was 2 years old. According to my parents I was chasing a boy.
2. I'm a very indecisive person.
3. I'm a morning person (from 5.30am onwards)
4. I have lived in 3 countries in my lifetime, Australia, Germany and Ex Yugoslavia
5. I have a younger brother
6. I'm a qualified Makeup Artist, Beauty Therapist and Massage Therapist
7. I could eat pasta for breakfast, lunch and dinner all day everyday
8. I'm obviously a massive makeup addict and love everything about the makeup/beauty industry.
9. I quit smoking 2008
10. I love my kids to bit, but boy is it good to go to work and be able to eat my lunch and drink my coffee in peace.
11. I can get very competitive.

Here are the questions that Ana from Hey Mama Australia set out for me

1. What is your inspiration behind the name of your blog?
I wanted a blog name that would straight away let people know what my blog was about. After annoying my brother with some really weird names for a few days I woke up one morning and texted him "Lipstick & Motherhood". It's exactly what I wanted and it was absolutely perfect.

2. How long have you been blogging, and how much time do you invest in your blog?
I started this blog in April 2014 when I was a Stay at Home Mum. At that point I was posting 3+ times a week, but since I returned back to work it's been more like 1-2 times per week.

3. Is blogging a hobby or a full-time career?
It's a hobby. I wouldn't want to make it a full time career because then it becomes a chore.

4. Where do you live?
I love in the Western Suburbs of Sydney, Australia.

5. What is your favourite pastime?
Shopping! No doubt about it. I still shop but it's not the same when I have the kids with me or have to worry if I can buy a certain item because there is now a budget in place.

6. Favourite place in the world?
I haven't travelled that much, but my favourite place would have to be Zadar. It's a small city in Croatia. I visited the city for the first time in 2004 (I have been there before when I was a little girl but I don't remember it) and I fell in love with it. From it's culture, to the beautiful beaches it's a place I'd be happy to retire to one day.

7.  What is your secret to relaxing and overcoming stress?
Exercise! I can't believe I just wrote and published this. It doesn't matter if it's a walk, a session at the gym or at fitcamp, it helps me think and clear my head.

8. Name one guilty pleasure.
Chocolate! I'm trying very hard to take it out of my diet but I just can't. I can't imagine my life without it.

9. Do you prefer cats or dogs?
Neither! I'm a snake person. NO NO NO THAT WAS A JOKE! Dogs.

10. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I honestly don't like thinking that far into the future, but if I have to say something I'd say that I'd want to be happy and healthy, have my kids, husband and the rest of my family happy and healthy. In the end that's pretty much all that matters.

11. What is your ultimate way of spending the weekend?
Getting a massage, followed by a facial, mani and padi. Then a little shopping trip and dinner with my family and friends. Then head to a nice park or beach the following day and enjoy a picnic and play with the kiddies.

I nominate the following blogs for the Liebster Award

My 11 questions to the nominees

1. Why did you start blogging?
2. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
3. What is the one thing that you cannot live without?
4. Blush or Lipstick?
5. What is your favourite book?
6. If you could give 1 piece of advice to your 18 year old self, what would that be?
7. What is your earliest childhood memory?
8. What are the best and worst aspects of blogging?
9. What is your day job?
10. Who is your biggest inspiration?
11. What is your secret to relaxation and overcoming stress?

To the nominated blogs, I hope you have fun answering these questions as much as I did and don't forget to share the love!

MAC Mineralized Skinfinish Blush in New Romance Review & Swatches

This has been a favourite blush of mine since I purchased it at IMATS back in September. Yes I'm talking about the MAC Mineralized Blush in New Romance.

Romance is a new release colour and is described by MAC as Peach. It is a beautiful peach colour with a very slight pink undertone. It's very shimmery and if you use this blush there is no need
for highlighter on your cheeks.

This blush is highly pigmented and a little goes a long way. If you like a subtle blush, be warned, use a light hand when applying it.

I absolutely love the packaging of the blush. MAC did a great job with re-packaging their blush/powder products and as some of you know I've gone back and got this same blush in the colour Warm Soul (review coming soon).

I have been enjoying this beautiful blush, especially on those days when I want my cheeks to look naturally flushed.

Have you tried any of the Mineralize Blushes? What colour is your favourite?

What's In My Makeup Travel Bag

Unfortunately, my holidays have come to an end. My family and I enjoyed a whole week in the beautiful Port Stephens. We had 1 day of rain and the rest of the time we had the most amazing weather where it wasn't too hot or humid. The kids enjoyed spending time at the beach and at the pool and we've all come back that little bit darker and more relaxed.

I didn't take much with me as I knew that the days will be spent on the beach and I wasn't too fussed about the makeup.

I got this beautiful Makeup Travel Bag from Witchery a few weeks ago during one of their sales. It is such a beautiful print and the size is absolutely perfect.

So here is what I did take with me.

1. Innoxa Restore Lift & Firm Primer* - This is fast becoming one of my favourite primers. It feels beautiful on the skin and makes the foundation last longer. Stay tuned for a full review.
2. Rimmel London Stay Matte BB Cream - This has been my holy grail face product in the last few months. It gives me enough coverage on a day to day basis and the staying power is absolutely amazing.
3. MAC Mineralized Skinfinish Natural powder in Medium - Oily skin and summer heat make one perfect combination for an oil sleeked face. This little beauty really helps keep the oil production at bay but I only use this for touch ups on holidays.
4. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer - My trusty concealer. What would I do without it? I'm so glad I gave this beauty a second chance. It doesn't crease, covers my dark circles and gives my skin that glow.

I didn't take any eyebrow products with me on holidays simply because I had them waxed and tinted before I left.

1. Napoleon Perdis Greatest Hits Cheek Palette - One of my favourite face palettes at the moment. The highlighters are subtle and the contouring/bronzing products were a perfect addition to add to my face as I got darker and the BB cream became too light for me.
2. Hourglass Ambient Lighting in Luminous Flush - This is my favourite blush and it's the perfect colour to accompany the sunkissed tan.

1. Anastasia Beverly Hills Tamanna Eyeshadow Palette - I received this palette a few days before Christmas and this was the perfect time to try it out. I love the fact that I had neutral and bright eyeshadows in one place.
2. MAC Eye Kohl in Teddy - It's the perfect eye pencil for a quick liner look. It's a beautiful bronze brown and it just makes my eyes look more defined and my eyelashes look fuller.
3. Essence Cosmetics Lash Princess Mascara - This is my favourite mascara at the moment and there was no doubt that it was going with me on holidays.

1. Nars Lip Crayons in Yu and Torres Del Paine - These two lip crayons were part of the Nars Limited Edition Digital World Box and are by far my favourite colours out of the 5. You can find the full review on these here.
2. Innoxa Satin Sheen Lipstick in Peach Lily* - If you follow me on Instagram you know that I've been reaching for this lipstick a lot lately. It's creamy, pigmented and lasts quiet some time even with eating and drinking. It's the perfect natural peach colour.

I've come a long way when it comes to packing my makeup as I used to be one of those girls who had a makeup bag for the face products and another for the eyeshadows and another for lipsticks. It's probably because I don't go on holidays anymore to lie on the beach and then go partying afterwards. It's amazing how things change once you have kids.

Let me know what you packed in your Travel Makeup Bag.

Australis AC on Tour Australis Contour & Highlighting Kit Review & Swatches

I was very lucky to have won this beautiful Australis AC ON Tour Contouring & Highlight Kit from the beautiful Lilit over at Makeup and Macaroons when she had a competition on her Instagram a few months ago.

This Contouring & Highlighting Palette is a dupe for the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contouring Kit at a fraction of the price. It retails for $16.95 and is currently available at Priceline.

This kit comes with 3 highlighting and 3 contouring colours. All the colours are surprisingly very pigmented. Both the highlighting and contouring colours come with pink and yellow undertones. There is also a shimmering highlighting colour which is perfect if you want to achieve that instant glow.
The contour colours are very pigmented and those with fair skin should use a light hand when applying the colour (I speak from experience).
I've also found using this palette as eyeshadows really great because of the range of colour (even though they may seem the same to some). The last contour colour with the slightly red undertone is so beautiful in the crease with a beautiful brown eyeshadow or as a transition colour.
Another advantage of this kit is that it comes with instructions on how to contour and highlight using this kit. I think this is a huge advantage for those starting out with contour and highlighting.

Would I recommend buy this? Absolutely! This is a great palette if you don't want to spend $40 USD on the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Palette, if you're studying to become a makeup artist and don't want to be lugging around individual highlighting and contouring colours and those starting out who want to see if contour and highlight is for you without spending a lot of money.

Nars Audacious Lipstick in Anita & Natalie Review & Swatches

I think the Nars Audacious Lipsticks were one of the most talked about lip products of 2014. I purchased the colour Anita and Natalie when I did a US order. I couldn't wait to get my hands on these and believe me when I say they're definitely worth the hype!

The Packaging
This lipstick comes in a classic black box and the case of the lipstick is magnetic. I love the magnetic closure because it means that there are less chances of the lipstick opening accidently in your handbag or makeup bag.

The Lipstick
The lipsticks are pigmented and creamy. It only takes one swipe to get the full colour payout. I choose the colour Anita which is a beautiful Nude with a slight pink undertone. It's very natural and perfect for everyday. The other colour that I choose is Anita. This is a beautiful coral colour that leans more towards a pink. This is a beautiful summer colour and I've been enjoying this a lot lately.

What I Like
The pigmentation on these lipsticks is unbelievable. If you haven't tried it yet I would recommend you do. It's also very creamy and moisturising and lasts a long time.

What I Don't Like
The price tag! Boy is this little gem expensive. It retails for AUD $44 at Mecca and US $32 at Sephora. Is it worth the investment! If you pick a shade that you would wear on a daily basis I would say yes as it's a great product.

Have you tried any of the Nars Audacious Lipsticks? Which shade did you pick?
