Shanghai Suzy. Lipstick Review Feat Miss Sally, Miss Leah, Miss Christina and Miss Mia

There has been so much hype in recent months about the beautiful Shanghai Suzy Lipsticks that I simply had to jump on the bandwagon and see what all the fuss is about.

First up the price of these pretties! At $12.95 each they are cheaper than some drug store brands and you can get deals such as buy 3 get 1 free for $38.85 or their whole summer collection which includes 8 colours for $65.00. Now that's what I call a bargain!

The colours are primarily matte which suits me just fine. Matte lipsticks stay on for longer and you don't have to worry about touch ups. After a lot of googling the colours I decided to go for Miss Sally (watermelon), Miss Leah (baby cocoa), Miss Christina (neon guava) and Miss Mia (Foxy Hibiscus). The only colour that isn't matte out of these 4 is Miss Leah which they say is nourishing. Being a really nude it wouldn't look as great as a matte. I'm absolutely in love with all 4 colours. The are so beautiful and unique and I have received a lot of compliments when wearing them.

Unlike many other lipsticks these actually feel very nice on the lips and don't feel drying at all. They are all really smooth to apply expect for Miss Christina and smell divine. Miss Christina seems a little bit drier in consistency than all the others but does not feel drying on the lips.

The pigmentation of these is simply amazing. There is no other explanation for it. The payoff is surreal and you only need one swipe to get the full colour payoff.

I really think that I will go back and purchase the other colours that they have available because they're the best lipsticks that I've bought on a drug store budget.

Have you tried the Shanghai Suzy lipsticks? What are your favourite colours?

Let's Create with Thermomix - Raw Bliss Balls

I have been trying to be really good the last week and a bit and have been staying away from sweets but have had the biggest cravings lately. I decided to give bliss balls a go. Everyone talks about them so it was time to experiment.

110g Raw Almonds
100g Madjoola Dates (pits removed)
40g Coconut Oil
30g Raw Cacao Powder
15g Chia Seeds
30g Decasinated Coconut (plus extra for rolling)

Place Raw Almonds into tge Thermomix and mill on speed 9, 20 seconds.
Add remaining ingredients and mix on speed 9, 20 seconds.
Roll mixture into bite sized balls and roll in coconut or anything else you may fancy.
You can easily make this without a thermomix by using almond meal and adding all the ingredients in a food processor until it is all well combined.
My kids loved these and have eaten about 3 each. They tell me the "chocolate cake balls" are really delicious. If they think they're delicious than so do I.

IMATS Sydney Haul

The International Makeup Artists Trade Show (IMATS) was on in Sydney this weekend and it was the very first time at IMATS for me. I wasn't too sure if I should go or not but since my wonderful Mother In Law offered to look after the kids, I took the opportunity to go on my own and check it out.

I went in with an open mind, no "wish list" and determined not to go overboard spending crazy amounts of money. I'm really happy with what I picked up but there were a few things that I really wanted to add to my collection but the line ups for those products were insane and I wasn't prepared to wait and battle with the crowds, but here is what I did get.

I believe this is a dupe for the Z Palette but at the fraction of the price. This is the large sized palette and fits 15 MAC eyeshadows inside. This was a bargain at $15 and I can't wait to fill it up.

Beauty so Clean
This is my favourite brush cleaner. I have a smaller bottle in my professional makeup kit and it's one of the fastest drying cleaners that I've ever used. It also doesn't damage my brushes which is another bonus.

Monda Studio Mixing Palette
Pretty self explanatory. Love these palettes as they're easy to clean and sterilise.

Melli Cosmetics Lipsticks in Romance and Petal
Those who follow me on Instagram know that I love my Melli eyeshadow palette so I could not wait to try out their lipsticks. I had to really contain myself at their stand and only picked up 2 lipsticks which are very natural that can be used on a daily basis. Stay tuned for a full review on these.

Melli Cosmetics Lipstick in Petal

I'll admit I did wait in line for about 30min to pick up these items from MAC but that is because I finally finally managed to get my hands on the MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in Soft & Gentle. I also picked up the Mineralized Blush in New Romance (see a pattern in colour choices) and their Cremesheen Lipstick in Peach Blossom.

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft & Gentle

MAC Peach Blossom

I also got to meet the lovely Lilit from Makeup and Macaroons and I bumped into Jodie from GooRooBeauty!

What did you end up getting at IMATS and have you met anyone you look up to in the beauty world?

Let's Talk About Weightloss: Changing Your Mindset

I'm sure most of us go through stages in their lives where things just don't go the way you imagined.

For me that is with weightloss and I beat myself about it all the time and it can cause negative effects on other aspects of my life.

I was recently given the opportunity to write a blog post for a wonderful blogger who has come such a long way. Her name is Bella and you can see the post here at Sailor Vee.

Now I'm usually a very happy person and try not to let things get to me, but this has been an ongoing problem with me that I don't know how to get out of.

My brother sent me an email today with the below article from The Angry Therapist and I can honestly say that I totally get it. It's exactly what I needed to hear to work out how to change my negativity towards my current non existing weightloss into a positive one.

Destroy Your Default,
Everyone has a default.  Manifesting in mood, posture, attitude, and energy.  Derived from beliefs about yourself and your story.  It’s your goto when things aren’t going well.  Many of us have shitty defaults.  Let’s face it.  Stale.  Rounded shoulders.  Heavy eyes.  Nothing’s ever going to happen to me.  My life sucks balls.  This is as good as it’s ever going to get.  Basically, I’m not going to kill myself but I’ve given up on life.  There’s a reason why this is the default for many.  Life is fucking hard.  We don’t grow up in safe containers.  We’re faced with challenges daily, most that we don’t have any control over.  We’re only fifty percent of any relationship so even if we were “perfect”, it’s still a coin toss.  Our world has programed us to want things that are difficult to come by.  We only compare ourselves to those who look better or have more.
As where your eyes go will determine the direction of the motorcycle, your default will determine the quality of your life.
Read that sentence again because the chances of you having a fulfilling life with a shitty default is slim to none.  If you’re miserable right now, instead of complaining, being angry at the world, and feeling sorry for yourself, examine your default.  Not what’s on the surface, but rather your beliefs.  If you don’t like yourself, fine.  Most of us don’t like ourselves.  Building worth and self love is a process and it starts with a choice to start that process.  There are different ways in and you decide which door you want to kick down.  But if you think life or people owe you something, I don’t care if you’re right or wrong, the result of that type of thinking will position you to feel ripped off, angry, and resentful, which sets you up for a negative energy sucking why me default.  And like the motorcycle mentioned above, your life will go in that direction.  You can’t go right if you are always looking left.  Your career will be at a stand still.  Your relationships will suffer.  And your potential to make any kind of dent in this universe will deflate like a shotgun to a hot air balloon.
But what if you can’t change it?  What if you tried?  There is no try.  There is only awareness and choices.  If you’re not aware, none of this will make sense to you so go back to your cookies.  But if you are aware of how your internal positioning is positioning yourself in life, choose to destroy it.  How?  Believe in something different and what you will attract will change. Not because of some universal law or Oprah says so.  Your thoughts manifest in behavior which gives you an experience.  If you don’t like your current one, change your thoughts and thinking, and you will have a different one.  There’s nothing more convincing than an experience and giving yourself a different one, and I emphasis giving yourself because many think they have no control over the experiences they have, will lead to more positive beliefs and ways of thinking.  About yourself.  Others.  The world.  And slowly, your default will crack.  As you shift your internal belief system, you will no longer walk like a caveman.  You will no longer bring everyone down.  You will no longer think the world owes you something.  You will no longer be holding on for apologies that never come.  You will be less afraid.  You may snap back once in a while because we are all like rubber bands but the force of that snap will be less and less until you realize your new default.  You have worth, you are loveable, and anything’s possible.
- Angry
What do you think of it? How do you change mindset from negative to positive?

Simple Everyday Makeup Look

It has been really quiet here on the blog. There has been lots of sickness in our household lately so everything else was pushed aside. Here is a look that I've been enjoying a lot lately especially when I'm at home with the kids or going to meet friends for a play date. It's super simple and quick which is really important for me.

Here are my go to products for a quick and simple makeup look (and a mini review)

Rimmel Matte BB Cream in Medium
I'm actually quiet surprised how well this BB cream works on my skin. It's probably because it's a matte formula so it doesn't turn my face into a grease ball but it's also the coverage that I'm surprised about. It's light to medium coverage and lasts about 6 hours before it starts to go slightly oily on me.

Benefit Gimme Brow in Medium/Deep
I love this brow gel for a quick application. This is one step I can't miss in my routine because my eyebrows are just so thin and I look like I only have half an eyebrow if I don't fill them in.

Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette
This one has made it's way into my collection recently but I'm kicking myself for not getting it earlier. The colours are all matte and perfect for everyday use. If I'm in a rush I will just use one of the lighter colours all over the lid and call it a day.

L'Oreal False Lash Wing Mascara
I'm in love with this mascara more so than with any other one recently. I will be doing a full review on it so won't reveal too much here except that it's amazing!!!

* Rimmel Colour Rush Balm in 100 Give Me A Cuddle
This gorgous lip crayon is my favourite at the moment. The colour is perfect for the warmer months, it moisturises the lips and it is amazing long lasting. If I put this on in the morning it will last throughout the day with eating, drinking and kissing my kids.

Nars Cheek Duo in Orgasm and Laguna
A multitasker right there. I have a Blush and Bronzer in one palette which saves me time searching for either on a busy morning. I also love using the Laguna Bronzer to define my eyelids and use Orgasm to give me eyelids a little bit of colours.

What is your go to makeup for a simple everyday look?

August Favourites 2014

Ok where did the month of August go? I didn't realise that it was September until all the August Favourites kept popping up. Between sickness, work and life in general the month of august has been extremely busy for us. I've had a few favourites this month so here we go.

Lancome Teint Visionnaire Foundation
I forgot how much I love this foundation of late and it was so nice to wear it again. It gives my skin such an amazing dewy look that I love.

Rimmel Matte BB Cream
I can only thank other bloggers for mentioning this BB cream. I love the concept of it but found all the other BB creams on the market made my skin extremely oily. Since this a matte formula it does not make me oily and stays matte for most of the day. The coverage on this is pretty amazing considering it's a BB cream.

Australis Colour Inject Mineral Lipgloss in Contemporary
Love this lipgloss. It's the perfect nude that looks great on bare lips or over lipstick. It's not sticky like some and it stays glossy for a few hours.

MAC Lipstick in Fan Fare
This is a weird colour to explain. It's a mixture of nude/pink/brown. I love wearing it as a stain on my lips as it makes them look plump and natural.

Covergirl Flamed Out Mascara
WOW is all I can say. This mascara give my lashes amazing volume. The wand is a bit tricky and definitely takes some getting used to.

Nars Blush/Bronzer Duo in Orgasm and Laguna
What's not to like about this duo? Laguna is a perfect contouring colour and orgasm is the perfect peachy/pink blush that can be worn all year round. You will see me reach for this more than any other blush that I have in my collection.

Yankee Candle in Beach Walk
I received this Candle by a friend of mine. She hit the nail on the head with the scent. I smells really fresh which I love and it really does remind me of all the times I went for an afternoon walk along the beach.

What are your favourites this month?
